The Environmental, Health, and Safety Committee functions to help member companies comply with government regulations and promote safety, health, and the responsible use of chemicals. This includes providing guidance, education, training and compliance resources to members, to support the goals of having the ability to demonstrate that the cast elastomer industry is acting in a safe and responsible manner, is an effective self-regulating industry and to ensure the availability of chemicals used by members.
Advocacy Subcommittee
The co-chairs will ensure that ongoing activities, any new tasks, and any ad-hoc or sub-committees, are managed effectively so that they are maintained, revised as needed, and have the resources necessary for successful execution in order to accomplish their goals and meet the needs of PMA members. This includes but is not limited to:
Due to the nature of the tasks and responsibilities of this position, it is highly recommended that volunteers have experience in the Environmental, Health, and/or Safety fields to lead the PMA in its EHS efforts.
The EHS Committee is continually looking for help with various ad-hoc projects and encourages members to volunteer and serve the PMA as an EHS committee member. Relevant experience or training is desirable but not mandatory.

The Advocacy Subcommittee of the EHS Committee serves as the outreach group from the PMA in communications and relationship building with legislators, other regulatory bodies and NGOs including, but not limited to: lawmakers, EPA, OSHA, ACC and other agencies and organizations, with the goal of promoting the continued use of chemicals vital to the polyurethane cast elastomer industry and promulgation of reasonable , science based statutes and regulations. The Advocacy Subcommittee also engages in activities supporting these goals.

Government Affairs Chair Position Description
The Committee Chair for the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association (PMA) Government Affairs Committee will lead and manage the committee’s activities focused on advancing and protecting members' rights to utilize all pertinent chemicals in the polyurethane industry. This role involves strategic foresight, advocacy, and collaboration with Government policymakers, as well as fostering member engagement and outreach efforts.
The Government Affairs Committee of the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association (PMA) is committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that safeguard and enhance the interests of our members. Our priorities include the continued safe and responsible use of chemicals in our industry, alongside regulations that stimulate innovation and bolster global competitiveness. We aim to ensure that these policies are well-balanced, grounded in science, and acknowledge the crucial role of our essential industry.
The committee emphasizes the importance of cultivating and sustaining robust relationships with State and Federal legislators to effectively advocate for the industry’s requirements and perspectives. Additionally, we strive to offer resources and support that empower our members to undertake their own advocacy initiatives, promoting a cohesive and influential voice on matters crucial to our industry.
Through strategic advocacy, cooperative efforts, and active engagement of our members, our committee aspires to create a regulatory landscape that promotes the responsible use of chemicals and compounds, while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
