EHS Committee Co-Chair Position Description

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Committee functions to help member companies comply with government regulations and promote safety, health, and the responsible use of chemicals. This includes providing guidance, education, training and compliance resources to members, to support the goals of having the ability to demonstrate that the cast elastomer industry is acting in a safe and responsible manner, is an effective self-regulating industry and to ensure the availability of chemicals used by members.

Advocacy Subcommittee

Key Responsibilities

The co-chairs will ensure that ongoing activities, any new tasks, and any ad-hoc or sub-committees, are managed effectively so that they are maintained, revised as needed, and have the resources necessary for successful execution in order to accomplish their goals and meet the needs of PMA members. This includes but is not limited to:

  • The Regulatory Compliance Self-Certification program.
  • Monitoring of statutory and regulatory changes and other legal issues that may affect members and take necessary action.
  • Training and educational materials.
  • Guidance documents.
  • Compliance help.
  • Articles including a committee update for Polytopics.
  • Work closely with the PMA’s legal council in carrying out committee activities.
  • Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide status updates for ongoing EHS projects, activities, and budget.
Co-Chair Requirements

Due to the nature of the tasks and responsibilities of this position, it is highly recommended that volunteers have experience in the Environmental, Health, and/or Safety fields to lead the PMA in its EHS efforts.

Serving as a Committee Member

The EHS Committee is continually looking for help with various ad-hoc projects and encourages members to volunteer and serve the PMA as an EHS committee member. Relevant experience or training is desirable but not mandatory.

Advocacy Subcommittee Co-Chair Position Description

The Advocacy Subcommittee of the EHS Committee serves as the outreach group from the PMA in communications and relationship building with legislators, other regulatory bodies and NGOs including, but not limited to: lawmakers, EPA, OSHA, ACC and other agencies and organizations, with the goal of promoting the continued use of chemicals vital to the polyurethane cast elastomer industry and promulgation of reasonable , science based statutes and regulations. The Advocacy Subcommittee also engages in activities supporting these goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the organization for an imminent EPA TSCA Risk Evaluation of MOCA
  • Develop information regarding the safety of polyurethane elastomers.
  • Monitor, report and respond to governmental regulations on chemicals important to the cast elastomer industry.
  • Compile and maintain MOCA Dossier for legal council.
  • Contribute articles including a subcommittee update for Polytopics.
  • Work closely with the PMA’s legal council in carrying out subcommittee activities.
  • Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide status updates for ongoing Advocacy projects, activities, and budget.

Government Affairs Chair Position Description
The Committee Chair for the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association (PMA) Government Affairs Committee will lead and manage the committee’s activities focused on advancing and protecting members' rights to utilize all pertinent chemicals in the polyurethane industry. This role involves strategic foresight, advocacy, and collaboration with Government policymakers, as well as fostering member engagement and outreach efforts.

The Government Affairs Committee of the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association (PMA) is committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that safeguard and enhance the interests of our members. Our priorities include the continued safe and responsible use of chemicals in our industry, alongside regulations that stimulate innovation and bolster global competitiveness. We aim to ensure that these policies are well-balanced, grounded in science, and acknowledge the crucial role of our essential industry.

The committee emphasizes the importance of cultivating and sustaining robust relationships with State and Federal legislators to effectively advocate for the industry’s requirements and perspectives. Additionally, we strive to offer resources and support that empower our members to undertake their own advocacy initiatives, promoting a cohesive and influential voice on matters crucial to our industry.

Through strategic advocacy, cooperative efforts, and active engagement of our members, our committee aspires to create a regulatory landscape that promotes the responsible use of chemicals and compounds, while maintaining high standards of safety and environmental responsibility.

Membership Growth Committee Co-Chair Position Description

Primary function is recruitment of new membership within the cast elastomer market as well as identification of new market segments for membership growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with fellow Co-Chair to maintain and grow the PMA membership.
  • Review new applications and provide recommendations to the board for approval.
  • Follow up with Members that have not renewed their membership from prior year (phone and email).
  • Periodically review lists of members that have not renewed for more than 1 year and see if opportunities exist for renewing.
  • Periodically attend/participate in trade-shows to help promote the PMA and grow membership.
  • Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide committee status updates, and actively contribute to discussions related but not limited to PMA marketing, registration, membership growth, committee budget, etc.
  • Provide PMA staff with committee updates, documents and materials prior to all BOD meetings as requested.

Member Services Committee Co-Chair Position Description

The primary function is to continuously enhance the value of membership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-lead the Member Services Committee, guide its activities, and ensure alignment with the PMA's objectives.
  • Ensure PMA members get the most value from PMA services, including:
  • Promotion of the PMA and cast polyurethane elastomer industry through multiple communications methods including events, on-line, and social networking platforms.
  • Collaborate with Annual Meeting and Golf Subcommittees.
  • Submit committee updates in quarterly the Polytopics newsletter.
  • Manage website including the Virtual Technical Library and all online resources.
  • Host webinars in cooperation with the Technical Committee.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor discount/rebate programs.
  • Bring forth and implement additional opportunities that add value to the PMA membership.
  • Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide status updates and actively contribute to discussions on but not limited to relevant Member Services topics and committee budget.

Annual Meeting Subcommittee Co-Chair Position Description

The Co-Chair position plays a pivotal role in shaping the annual gathering of the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association (PMA). They are entrusted with the responsibility of co-leading the planning and execution of this flagship event, contributing to its success and the overall advancement of the PMA. The Annual Meeting Subcommittee operates under the Member Services Committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Event Planning: Work closely with fellow Co-Chair, Membership Services Committee, and the PMA staff to plan, organize, and execute the annual meeting. This includes developing event theme, agendas, ensuring each agenda item has the proper room/space at the selected venue, interview and select a Keynote and other speakers.
  • Engagement and Feedback: Act as a liaison between the attendees and the PMA Board, gathering feedback and recommendations to enhance future annual meetings.
  • Innovative Ideas: Bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table to make each annual meeting a stronger, more impactful experience for attendees.
  • Active Participation: Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide status updates, and actively contribute to discussions related but not limited to the annual meeting planning, member feedback, and committee budget.
  • Networking Facilitation: Encourage networking opportunities during the Annual Meeting to foster connections among PMA members

Technical Committee Co-Chair Position Description

Primary function is to evaluate the technical and processing needs of this industry and develop reference materials and programs to meet those needs. The Technical Committee is actively involved with the Technical Paper Selection and PTS Subcommittees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-lead the Technical Committee alongside the fellow Co-Chair, guiding its activities and ensuring alignment with the PMA's technical objectives.
  • Organize and assist in conducting the Failed Parts Competition including preparing part samples, presentation slides, and paperwork for the event.
  • Solicit posters for the annual meeting,
  • Solicit and arrange PMA technical webinars
  • Provide quarterly updates for the Polytopics TC report
  • Attend quarterly BOD meetings to provide status updates, and actively contribute to discussions related but not limited to providing technical education to the PMA members and committee budget.
